Constant Ticking is a unique composition for the melodeon. Elye Cuthbertson draws heavily on minimalist techniques, while letting his natural creative voice shine through. Overlapping time cycles, additive melodies, and phase shifting are used to manipulate expectations around tension and release; yet Elye's folk music influences and distinctive approach to the melodeon do not go unnoticed. The result is a provocative, jarring piece that is as enthralling as it is unsettling.
